Project Preparation

Detailed preparation, planning and design were crucial as the property is in the St Albans conservation area. Upon our client's request, we oversaw and applied for a ‘Certificate of Lawful Development’ from St Albans council.

The preliminary preparation included removal of an existing tree house, fencing and a shed to clear the space and prepare the area for the garden room.

Exterior
The garden room design included an extended decked area with fully integrated lighting. This was designed to frame an existing Magnolia tree that the client wanted to make a feature of. New fencing was also installed as part of the overall project.
Interior

Our brief was to create a garden room that provided a comfortable and inspiring home office complete with underfloor heating. We incorporated a separate, hidden shed with a concealed door, clad in Western Red Cedar, to ensure that the building blended seamlessly with the existing surroundings.
